Due to the claims raised by municipalities and users due to the alleged lack of vaccines in some regions of the country, the Ministry of Health had to clarify, this Tuesday, that there are sufficient doses in the national territory to cover the immunization campaign against Covid, and that the lack of stock is due to the fact that, as they explained, there is a lack of coordination between the Seremis and the communal administrations.
Regarding distribution, “we are monitoring vaccine stocks daily” working together with regional ministerial secretaries, “but we must remember that there is a final step, which is coordination between municipalities and seremis, in which the municipalities must go to the seremis to withdraw the vaccines,” assured the undersecretary of Public Health, Cristóbal Cuadrado.
“In those places there are times when there is a lack of coordination, therefore it is something that we are actively working to improve that process.” The undersecretary assured “that we have the necessary doses of vaccines in the country and, from the next few days, we are going to incorporate Moderna into our vaccination scheme, with which we will increase the availability of vaccines in all corners of the country, so that all person who requires it can vaccinate”.
In this sense, the Ministry of Health intends to find a way to make the vaccination schedule more “simple”, with the aim that there is no confusion in the public so that people can more easily access their booster dose. .
“Some of the elements that we are looking at is how we are communicating the vaccination messages, and simplifying the calendars is something that we are in conversation with the National Immunization Program,” Cuadrado concluded.
