After knowing the results of the Electoral Court referring to the fact that the “Yes” to the repeal of 135 articles of the LUC did not obtain the necessary votes, the campaign manager, Esteban Valenti, said that it was another “historic recognition, which the Uruguayan left has unanimously and fully embraced and practiced democracy. It was a long road, hard and with mistakes, but the result is wonderful”.
But, Valenti went a step further and said: “Other characters to thank: Graciela Bianchi, because in order to build her well in the mud and always insult and accuse sinister, she gave us a few thousand other votes of the undecided and did not win a single ‘No’ vote”.
The Yes campaign manager added that another of the characters who must also be thanked for the fact that the vast majority of the undecided have turned to the Yes, is former Colorado president Julio Maria Sanguinetti, who “was willing to liquidate a little more to the Colorado Party and brought a few votes to the Yes”.
Charges
On the other hand, Valenti stated that it should be valued what it represents as a civic and democratic culture that “thousands and thousands of people committed themselves to the military for the ‘Yes’ without a single charge at stake.
“Those of ‘No’ defended their positions, their power,” he denounced.
He added: “Up with those who fight, those who work, those who think, those who want a better world and country, those who do not need any other reward than a just and free cause, those who build democracy by practicing it and with ideals. Those who think differently, with respect”.
Disappearance
In another order, the campaign manager of the Commission for the “Yes”, rejected the criticism he has received in recent hours.
“To those who predict my disappearance, I must remind you that I have been a soldier for 60 years and I will continue to do so. This is just starting. Especially for the Nazis who do not admire Hitler because he died, but wish that those were the relations with the opposition. The world is round”, sentenced Valenti.
