The recommendations issued by the technical work table on drug shortages will be presented on April 11.
According to Vice President José Gabriel Carrizo, who held the fourth meeting of the technical table together with the sectors interested in seeking solutions and finding mechanisms to end shortages, these recommendations will help improve the processes of pharmacies and drugs, imports and contracting.
Currently the Social Security Fund (CSS) is in a state of critical shortage, because according to its director Enrique Lau Cortés this entity has only 80% of medicines.
After President Laurentino Cortizo signed the Decree that regulates purchases due to critical shortages, the CSS published a list with 130 medicines in that situation.
The Ministry of the Presidency ordered the transfer of $5 million dollars, according to Luis Oliva, administrator of the Government Innovation Authority (AIG) with this money it will be possible to “execute the complete digitization of pharmacies and drugs that will help the health registration process and importation of medicines for distributors”.
They have already transferred 25% for the 2022 item and later, a tender will be called to acquire the corresponding medicines.
