Coalition will defend the preservation of pension funds

A group of union, community and social organizations formed a coalition to defend the preservation of Pension funds and for this he announced a series of demonstrations.

It’s about the Coalition National Union, Social and Community Organizations that will demand that officials and politicians not intervene in the savings of workers.

Jacobo Ramos, leader of the National Central of Dominican Workers (CNTD) said that there are politicians who want to make a career based on this issue.

He considered it inappropriate to touch the savings of the Pension funds that every month they discount the workers as officials and legislators want.

He announced a plan of struggle that includes marches, pickets, seminars, workshops to demand respect for the Pension funds.

Ramos indicated that the activities include a proposal for a comprehensive modification of Law 87-01, on social security, and warned that they will defend the resources of the workers in any scenario.

He exhorted the workers not to be misled by populist politicians who want to destroy the system of Pension funds from the country.

“We regret that sectors, which are not even organized, that have different interests and agendas than the workers, to the detriment of the labor sector of the Dominican Republic, want to invent to lacerate the Pension funds of workers, Ramos said.

In relation to the reduction of the contributions of the workers announced by the administrators of the Pension fundsRamos said that the authorities must give an explanation because what has been given so far is only technical

He recalled that the State is the guarantor of the Pension funds and of the final result that is the attention to the workers as it is established in article 106 of Law 87-01.

Among the organizations that make up the coalition claiming warranty for Pension funds They are: the National Federation of Tourist Transport, Free Zone Workers, the Community Action Movement of San Pedro de Macorís, Domestic Workers, Lottery Bank Workers, among others.
