The hierarch clarified that “there may be complaints that are not registered” in the Ministry of the Interior because they could have been made before the prosecution. At a press conference, after a meeting in the Executive Tower, he said: “The Broad Front gave me a term of one month. I said that in much less time we could give him that report. It took us a week to make the inquiries,” Heber highlighted.
And he added: “Many complaints are not police abuse but I cannot go deeper because, nobility obliges, I think it is important that I deliver it to the Broad Front, (to the) figure of Fernando Pereira, so that they obtain the information they requested”.
Heber explained that “many of the complaints did not appear as police abuse” in the Ministry of the Interior. There are arrests and formalizations. Of 50 cases denounced by the Broad Front, 45 were formalizations and convictions.
There are 22 cases from the year 2020 and 28 cases from 2021, he added. In addition, in two cases the Ministry of the Interior could not “get information”, the minister said.
