Mount Silver – President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Public Works and Communications, MOPC, Delgine Ascension, They headed this Sunday here, the act where they started the work of several road projects, whose investment will exceed 2 billion pesos in Monte Plata.
The president, showing signs of the beginning of the work, got on the tractor together with the operator, after listening to the considerations of the work by the MOPC minister. Also to the provincial authorities who highlighted the extensive benefits of reconstruction of the highway that connects the municipalities of San Antonio de Guerra and Bayaguana.
These belong to the Santo Domingo and Monte Plata provinces, respectively, which entails an initial investment of 650 million pesos.

Deligne Ascención, when delivering the central speech of the act, said that, throughout the Monte Plata province, by order of President Abinader. In addition, some 1,400 million will be invested in the construction of sidewalks, containments and the asphalting of the streets of all its municipalities. This means the expansion of El Cambio is felt here with the arrival of this government that he heads.
He said that this road is of vital importance since it will connect the provinces of Santo Domingo, San Pedro de Macorís, Hato Mayor and Monte Plata.
“This total investment that exceeds two thousand five hundred million pesos, because in addition to this highway. Starting this coming week, we are starting an important asphalting program. It will cover the five municipalities of the province and that it will also begin the construction of thousands of meters of sidewalks and curbs that will be distributed throughout all the districts and municipalities of Monte Plata”, emphasized Ascención.
He reported that from this Sunday work will be done on the reconstruction of this highway, (Guerra-Bayaguana) which has a length of 24 kilometers. It connects to several communities, a remodeling job will be done to leave it in conditions that the locals can transit without any inconvenience. In addition, agricultural producers in the area can transport their products without difficulty.
Highway over 650 million pesos
“This highway, whose layout is about 24 kilometers, will be intervened in its entirety with an investment of more than 650 million pesos.
He stressed that the type of soil that makes up this area is characterized by having a low water table, caused by high rainfall. That is, the frequent occurrence of rain.
These special conditions, he stressed, have been taken into account in the design of the works that we will carry out. Because the construction of the gutters that will guarantee adequate drainage are included. Also of a rigorous sanitation of the soil and an asphalt mixture design that provides the stability of the pavement so that it resists the traffic of the hundreds of heavy vehicles that move daily along this road.
He assured that this road will also fulfill the function of traffic distributor linked to the Northeast highway and the Santo Domingo Norte ring road, therefore, the reconstruction of this road will contribute to the widening of the interconnection circuit between Monte Plata and the east region.

Deligne Ascención also reported that the contractor was given a work order, who immediately began cleaning the ditch, clearing the sides and maintaining traffic on this road.
“We are facing towns with many years of foundation, but also many years of abandonment by previous governments. This neglect has placed this province, despite its productive diversity, its potential as an ecological tourism destination and its proximity to Santo Domingo , in the highest levels of poverty in the country. However, thank God we can say that CHANGE has come to Monte Plata” said the MOPC minister.
He pointed out that the Ministry of Public Works is carrying out dozens of projects that will forever change the infrastructure of these communities.
He said that, for years, the drivers and the people of Bayaguana have demanded that the Ministry of Public Works rebuild this highway. Which unites that municipality with Guerra, which is deteriorated because it has not been repaired for more than 20 years.
The poor conditions of the road have been the cause of frequent accidents, in which several people have lost their lives and others have permanent injuries.
The governors of Monte Plata, Rafael Javier and Altagracia Julia Drullard, from Santo Domingo, spoke at the event and valued the work. Also the senator for Monte Plata, Lenin Valdez and the representative of the community Rafael Cruz, who said that they had been demanding the reconstruction of the road for 20 years, for which he thanks the president and the Minister of Public Works for listening to their cries.
