“More than 40% of the population identifies itself in this condition of vulnerability. Of every 100 people, 43 live on less than $ 11,056 a day and 15 of every 100 subsist on less than $ 4,833 a day ”said Mac Master, and called on entrepreneurs to continue assuming leadership.

Mac Master highlighted the role of entrepreneurs to strengthen the social fabric, and thus help mitigate the impact of poverty left by the economic crisis as a result of the pandemic.

We are convinced that the business sector is the main driver of social inclusion and equity in Colombia, since it plays a fundamental role in creating a key tool for generating well-being, which is employment. The commitment goes further, we believe in the power of alliance networks and in the importance that, from the public and private, we are part of the resolution of problems as serious as the worsening of poverty “Mac Master said.

Within the framework of the event, the director of Dane, Juan Daniel Oviedo, referred to how people in conditions of vulnerability and poverty have also been the most affected.

The pandemic also manifested itself in a deterioration of people’s ability to receive income, at all socioeconomic levels, but the effect was more severe precisely in the most vulnerable levels, in which for every $ 100 that was received before the covid , they stopped receiving $ 45 Oviedo said.

The director of the Dane assured that the institutional aid has been important, but that the solution of poverty has a direct channel with the business sector and the generation of employment.
