This Friday, March 18, the debate on the LUC would take place between the president of the FA, Fernando Pereira, and the mayor of Rocha, the nationalist, Alejo Umpíerrez,

The debate, organized by the newspapers Diario El Este and Acuario FM, would take place at the Teatro 25 de Mayo.

Although Pereira attended the meeting, Umpiérrez never showed up, and the president of the FA made his statement only for the Yes to the repeal of 135 articles of the Law of Urgent Consideration (LUC).

Pereira lamented the refusal of the ruling party that decided not to debate, and expressed solidarity with the journalists and media that organized the instance.

“I regret that the other party did not want to come to exchange ideas, it does Uruguayan society very badly. The truth finds its way,” he added.

During the debate that was not, the president of the FA said that the Uruguayan economy is out of control. “Today everything is more expensive, because the government fell in love with ‘savings’ and forgot about the people”.

On the other hand, he questioned the articles of the LUC referring to the limitation of the right to strike.

“If in the last century the unions had been limited, as the LUC wants, there would be no bonus, 8 hours, or vacation pay,” Pereira pointed out.
