Cuba will provide assistance in consular offices in Europe to Cuban citizens in Ukraine

The consular offices of Cuba in Poland, Romania, Belarus, Slovakia, and Hungary, as well as the General Directorate of Consular Affairs and Attention to Cubans Resident Abroad (DGACCRE) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX), will provide the necessary assistance to Cuban citizens who are in Ukrainian territory, reported today Ernesto Soberón, General Director of the DACCRE.

In a Twitter thread (series of tweets), Soberón said that the foregoing will guarantee, among other aspects, the continuity of the procedures already initiated in kyiv, other services that the Cuban nationals need to carry out in the future, as well as the systematic exchange with these and with their families and friends in Cuba.

“The foregoing will guarantee, among other aspects, the continuity of the procedures already initiated in kyiv, other services that our nationals need to carry out in the future, as well as the systematic exchange with them and with their relatives and close friends in #Cuba,” he published.

Said consular representations, he said, will provide useful information to those who wish to travel outside of Ukraine, after coordination with the authorities concerned.

In his communication, Soberón shared the contact information of the aforementioned offices so that those interested can communicate with those institutions.

He also recognized that these measures are intended not to interrupt consular assistance to nationals residing in Ukraine as a result of the armed conflict in that country.

He clarified that the arranged measures enter into force, from now on, and until further notice.

Recently, the general director of Consular Affairs and Cubans Resident Abroad of the MINREX, assured on Twitter that the Cuban missions in Ukraine, Poland and Slovakia maintained communication with the citizens of the largest of the Antilles residing in Ukrainian territory.

He also ratified the Antillean country’s commitment to provide proper consular assistance to all nationals residing in that Eastern European country.

Cuba expressed in the emergency session of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization that it will continue to advocate for a serious, constructive and realistic diplomatic solution to the current crisis in Europe, by peaceful means, that guarantee the security and sovereignty of all, as well as regional and international peace, stability and security.
