Copa Airlines offers facilities to Cubans for changes in visas

The airline Copa Airlines announced today facilities in its services for Cubans who need to modify their trips due to the entry into force of new visa requirements for Panama.

Ernesto Soberón, general director of Consular Affairs and Attention to Cubans Resident Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, released today on Twitter a statement from the Central American company that he said will offer flexibilities for rescheduling flights.

Travelers who need to make changes to their trips can contact the reservation center or visit the company’s sales offices, the statement added.

Through Executive Decree 19, dated March 8, 2022, the Panamanian authorities decided to establish the requirement of transit visas for Cuban nationals, for a period of three months.

The measure will come into force as of Sunday, March 13, according to the official communication.

According to the Panamanian embassy in Havana, passengers traveling before the aforementioned date will not require any type of visa, but those who have a ticket between March 13 and 30 must reschedule their flight and subsequently request a transit visa.

Consular attention for transit visas will begin on Thursday, March 10, and those people who have a ticket will be served from March 31, and so on, the decree specifies.

The embassy of Panama has published in its social networks the necessary requirements for the application of this visa.

Numerous Cubans gathered this Wednesday in front of the Panamanian embassy in this capital in search of details about the establishment of a transit visa through the country.

Officials from the diplomatic headquarters made clarifications on the new transit visa requirement for Cubans traveling through the Central American nation.
