Colombia advances in the preparation to receive the Copa América Femenina 2022.
This Thursday, Conmebol announced the three cities and stadiums in the country that will host the ninth edition of the international championship in July this year. The Pascual Guerrero of Cali, the Centennial of Armenia and the Alfonso López of Bucaramanga, the chosen venues.
“CONMEBOL confirmed this Thursday, March 10, the host cities that will host the CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2022 in Colombia. The cities that will host the tournament are Cali (Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium), Bucaramanga (Alfonso López Stadium) and Armenia (Centennial Stadium),” the Colombian Football Federation reported in a statement.
The tournament, which will grant three direct places to the World Cup in Australia – New Zealand, will begin on July 8 and will end on the 30th of the same month with the grand final. Colombia is going for its first title in the Cup of which it was runner-up in 2010 and 2014.
“The CONMEBOL Women’s Copa América is one of the tournaments that will tell us about the strength of South American women’s football. Women’s football has no ceiling”, added the FCF.
The Tricolor has already played this year in two of the stadiums that will host the nations championship. On the FIFA date in February, Nelson Abadía’s team played two friendlies against Argentina, one at the Pascual Guerrero and the other at the Alfonso López. Both finished equal.
