While Capac proposes a salary increase of 0.07 cents per hour, for the next 4 years; Suntracs believes that an increase of 0.70 cents for the same period is fair.
The Single Union of Workers and Allied Workers (Suntracs), will go on an indefinite general strike, starting next March 28, due to the abyss that exists in the salary increase proposals presented in the CAPAC-SUNTRACS Collective Agreement, which ended last March 8.
According to the Panamanian Chamber of Construction (CAPAC) the conciliation period of the Convention ended without reaching agreements since the salary proposals are very distant. While Capac proposes a salary increase of 0.07 cents per hour, for the next 4 years; Suntracs believes that an increase of 0.70 cents for the same period is fair.
Capac announced through a statement that Suntracs decided that within 20 days after the conciliation period ended, it would call an indefinite general strike, due to the lack of agreements on wages.
