The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) forecast moderate to heavy rainall this weekend, in the regions north, northeast, southeastincluding Greater Santo Domingo and the Central Cordillera.
The weather forecasting body indicated that rainfall will be caused by a trough located in the eastern portion, with greater intensity at night.
Meteorology said that temperatures will remain low during the first hours of the morning, especially in mountainous areas and valleys, due to the time of year, winter.
COE issues alert
Due to the rains, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) issued a green alert for Puerto Plata, Santiago, Monsignor Nouel, Espaillat and La Vega.

Onamet urges citizens to use their umbrellas because the weather environment it will turn rainy on the Dominican Republic from today.
A trough is located on the eastern portion, causing increased humidity and instability, therefore, there will be frequent cloudy intervals, showers being moderate to heavy locallythunderstorms and gusts of wind in the northern, northeast, southeast regions (including Greater Santo Domingo), and the Cordillera Central, especially now and at night.
Hot temperatures during the day, turning pleasant to cool during the early hours of the morning, Saturday night and early morning.
Due to the rains that are forecast for the next 24 to 48 hours, the ONAMET issues the following meteorological alert levels, before possible flash flooding of rivers, streams and ravinesas well as landslides and urban flooding.
