The lawyer and former secretary general of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC)Nicolás Bustamante Coronado, was sworn in as the new head of the transport sector, after the resignation of John Silva on February 28 due to multiple questions against him.
Before taking office, Bustamante served as Secretary General of the Ministerial Office of Transport and Communications. Although he is a lawyer by profession and, according to his affidavit of interests, he has been registered with the Lambayeque Bar Association since 2006, he is a native of Cajamarcaspecifically from Chota, like President Pedro Castillo.

In the evening hours today, around 8:40 pm, the lawyer participated in the brief swearing-in ceremony for the position of minister, where other members of the cabinet were present, such as Prime Minister Aníbal Torres and the vice president and head of the Midis, Dina Boluarte.
Before joining the MTC, as stated in his affidavit of interests, in 2019 he began working at the District Municipality of Miraflores as a legal analyst, until August 2021. In November of that same year he joined the government of the day as secretary of the MTC .
RESIGNATION OF JUAN SILVA
It was the head of state who announced Silva’s departure through a publication on social networks. In addition, in an extraordinary edition, the resolution that formalizes the resignation of the then minister was published in the official newspaper El Peruano.
“I inform the public that I accept the resignation presented today by Minister Juan Silva, thanking him for his services. Our commitment remains in force with the people and we need to meet the objectives set by the Government”, Castillo Terrones wrote on Twitter the same day that the plenary session of Congress debated the possible censorship of the former minister.
