Nine months before the legislative elections, Trump dominates the Republican Party and regularly hints at his willingness to seek a second term in 2024.

Donald Trump denied on Thursday that he had broken the law to try to stay in power after his defeat in the 2020 presidential election, as pointed out by a committee of the United States House of Representatives, and assured again that the elections were “fraudulent” .

The commission is investigating the role of the former president in the attack on the US Congress carried out by some of his supporters on January 6, 2021.

The legislators that make it up presented a court document on Wednesday night in which they estimate for the first time that Trump could have broken laws when he sought to hinder the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election.

“The only objective of the commission is to prevent President Trump, who is leading the polls by far, from being able to run again if I decide to do so,” the Republican billionaire denounced in his statement, where he also accused the members of the commission of “destroying democracy”.

Trump assured that the attack on Capitol Hill took place “because millions of people in our country know that the election was stolen”, reiterating his baseless accusations of irregularities that would have occurred during the November 2020 election, in which many Americans still believe.
