The Wall Street Stock Exchange in New York does not operate this Thursday on the occasion of the National Day of Mourning for the death of the former US president Jimmy Carter (1977–1981).
“During his remarkable post-presidential life, President Carter left an enduring legacy of humanitarianism. The NYSE will respectfully honor President Carter’s lifetime of service to our nation by closing our markets on the National Day of Mourning,” said Lynn Martin, president of the New York Stock Exchange.
Even so, most banks and schools will remain open except for those that have been closed for a few days due to the snow storm.
