The ungrouped congressman Edwin Martínez spoke about the complaint of alleged rape filed by a woman against the Somos Perú parliamentarian, José Jerí, and another person involved.
“According to the press reports and everything else, from the lady who made the complaint, well she is not that young, she is 31 years old, it would definitely be a totally aberrant act,” he indicated in RPP.
At another time, the legislator seemed to attribute part of the responsibility for the event to the alleged victim, arguing that “the two men should have controlled the girl so that she does not drink so much” and prevent “this type of situation” from occurring.
“The young lady also had to control herself a little, because when drunk they lose their equanimity and begin to highlight those ugly things that people sometimes have hidden inside and acts like this can happen, which is an alleged rape,” he added.
Finally, the congressman pointed out that, if Jerí’s guilt is proven, “he definitely has to be punished.”
