The words of a teacher who fights for rural education, “this is just one of the thousands of stories in Colombia.”

News Colombia.

Deep in the mountains of the Páramo de Pisba, in Boyacá, Colombia, a story was woven that moves and inspires. Johana Sora Sánchez, a teacher committed to her work, travels a challenging path every week to reach the El Cadillal school, where she teaches her only two students, the brothers Ángel David and William Javier Vega.

His story, captured by Noticias Caracol, went viral and mobilized the hearts of thousands of Colombians, who came together to transform the difficult conditions of this educational community.

Thanks to the dissemination of their case, the children and their teacher will receive resources that will change their lives: arrangements at school, computers and satellite internet connection.

In addition, Ángel David will continue his medical treatment to correct a cleft palate and cleft lip, news that filled his family with hope.

The miracle of a viral story

When the news of the support reached the Vega home, the emotions were indescribable. Professor Johana shared with emotion: «It was a total surprise. Neither they nor I expected it. In many cases, people forget stories like this, but this time it was different. This is a very great blessing.«

The children’s parents, initially incredulous, now celebrate this unexpected turn in their lives.

Optimism has returned to the wasteland, and children can dream of a brighter future, where technological limitations are no longer a barrier.

A journey of sacrifice and love for the teaching of ‘profess’ Johana

Every Monday, Johana leaves her two-year-old son in Duitama to undertake an exhausting trip: two hours by car on poor roads and an hour on foot, facing inclement weather and mountainous terrain. His efforts, however, are driven by his passion and the affection he feels for his students.

In this remote corner of Colombia, Ángel David and William Javier walk half an hour every day to get to class. Before studying, they work in the fields, a reflection of the spirit of resilience that characterizes them.

«Every effort has a reward. Teaching them, although with few resources, fills my heart. They are my main motivation,” says Johana, visibly moved.

Until recently, El Cadillal school did not have access to the internet, computers or cell phone signal. Education was a monumental challenge, but Johana always looked for alternatives to make learning meaningful.

With the arrival of new resources, both the teacher and her students will be able to explore a world that previously seemed unattainable.

«They are facing a world where technology is essential, and now they will be able to learn to use it. This will open doors for them,” added Johana.

Although this story has a hopeful ending, Johana emphasizes that her case is only one of many that exist in Colombia.
