The Foreign Ministry reported that about 40 Brazilians managed to board a train from Kiev to Chernivtsi, near the Romanian border.
Employees at the Brazilian Embassy in Bucharest, capital of Romania, are waiting for Brazilians at the border, according to Itamaraty. Other Brazilians and also Latin Americans were received earlier, the agency added.
The announcement that a train would be reserved for the removal of Brazilians and Latin Americans from Kiev was made yesterday (25) by the Brazilian embassy in Kiev. According to data presented by the representation in ThursdayOn Friday (24), there were then something around 500 Brazilians in Ukraine.
Among these Brazilians there are dozens of players who played in Ukrainian football. In a broadcast and in posts on Instagram, the wife of defender Marlon Santos, Maria Paula Marinho, said they were told to go from the hotel to the train station just 40 minutes in advance.
On a social network, Itamaraty reported that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos França, “activated yesterday the GT – Brazilians in Ukraine, a support center for Brazilian nationals in Ukraine, in charge of coordinating emergency actions and implementing the contingency plan for safe and orderly way of our countrymen”.
this morning Saturday (26), the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) confirmed to have placed two KC-390 Millenium planes on standby for the removal of Brazilians from the region. Details on how, where or when this will take place have not yet been released by the FAB or Itamaraty.
