Teacher unions accepted the 45.4% increase offered by the national government

The Minister of Education of the Nation, Jaime Perczyk, signed this Friday with the teachers’ unions the joint agreement that contemplates a salary increase of 45.4% in four sectionswhich raises the minimum salary of a teacher and teacher to $50,000 as of March 1 and to $60,000 in September.

“Today we sign the joint teacher agreement with a salary increase of 45.4% as of March 1 within the framework of this space for debate, negotiation and social dialogue in which we propose a common work agenda due to the political will of the government. and the teachers’ union organizations,” Perczyk explained through a statement released by the educational portfolio.

The official recalled that “Since this government took office, we have committed ourselves so that the wages of the workers not only beat inflation but also recover.”

“That was the commitment of the President of the Nation (Alberto Fernández) and the one that we fulfilled with this proposal that we made nine days before classes start and that has now been accepted for all teachers”, highlighted the Minister of Education.

And in this regard, he remarked: “We want that on March 2 all the girls and all the boys recover the right to full presence and normality, and that it be a cycle of reparation for these two years that were very difficult”.

The proposal of the national educational portfolio agreed by the unions consists of a guaranteed national minimum teacher salary set at the sum of $50,000 as of March 1 of the current year, which means an increase of 21.21% integrated as follows : 5% in concept of recomposition of the joint agreement corresponding to the year 2021 and 16.21% referred to the current joint agreement of the year 2022.

What’s more, grants an increase of 8.08% on June 1 so that the salary reaches $53,333; the same percentage in August to reach $56,666 and another 8.08% in September so that the minimum wage is $60,000, which represents an increase of 45.4% of the corresponding salary guideline. It also includes a review clause in September.

The agreement was accepted by the five nationally represented teachers’ associations -CTERA, UDA, CEA, SADOP and AMET- within the framework of the meeting in which the Secretary of Education, Silvina Gvirtz, also participated; the Secretary of the Federal Council of Education, Marcelo Mango and the Head of Advisors of the educational portfolio, Mario Caputo.
