SANTO DOMINGO.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) increased the number of provinces on alert to 29 tonight, of which 16 provinces and the National District are in yellow and 12 in green, due to the fact that the air mass is humid and unstable due to the interaction of a trough and the indirect influence of Storm Rafael and the effects of the warm and humid wind from the south.
Likewise, it is forecast that cloudy weather with moderate to heavy downpours, thunderstorms and occasional gusts of wind will persist until late into the night.
On yellow alert are: Puerto Plata, María Trinidad Sánchez, Espaillat, Barahona, Santiago, Hato Mayor, Santo Domingo, El Seibo, Samaná, Dajabón, San Juan, Duarte, Hermanas Mirabal, La Altagracia, Pedernales, Valverde and the National District
While in green are Independencia, Elías Piña, La Vega, San Cristóbal, La Romana, Santiago Rodríguez, Monte Cristi, Azua, San Pedro de Macorís, San José de Ocoa, Peravia and Bahoruco.
In this sense, the COE recommends that people refrain from crossing rivers, streams and ravines that have high volumes of water in the provinces under alert.
Likewise, it urges the operators of fragile, small and medium-sized vessels on the Atlantic Coast from Cape Engaño to Cape Cabrón, to remain in port due to abnormal winds and waves of 5 to 8 feet near the coast, being higher out to sea. .
Likewise, for the rest of the northern coast up to Bahía de Manzanillos in Monte Cristi, they can carry out their operations without venturing out to sea.
