The Electoral Court of the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University (Uagrm) called a referendum for March 30 to determine if the rector should be a member of the Illustrious University Council (ICU) and submit to the consideration of the university community the re-election of the directors of that instance of co-government.
This was announced by the rector of the Uagrm, Vicente Cuéllar, who expressed his satisfaction by the decision of the electoral body of the ‘U’, which is complying with the Statute approved at the II university congress in 2018, which suppresses the re-election of authorities.
“On March 30, the entire university community is going to come to make a decision, which consists of whether the rector is going to continue to be a member of the ICU and whether the councilors of the co-government body they can still be reelected. That will allow us to do that division of powers that we need in the university”, indicated Cuéllar. Currently, the rector presides over the ICU, which is the highest decision-making body of the Santa Cruz state company.
the authorityuniversity community convened teachers and students to participate in the referendum. For this, the electoral body of the Uagrm approved a schedule to carry out the process.
The rector wants to give a change of direction in the university; and to this, has been promoting measures that seek a change in the upper house of studies. Last month made the decision to annul the mandate of the ICU delegates.
