VIII National Intercollegiate Sports Games bring together more than three thousand athletes

More than a hundred student athletes from all over the country from pre-middle and high school from public and private schools, met at the Los Andes Sports Complex #2, to participate in the inauguration of the VIII National Intercollegiate Sports Games.

Accompanied by the Rubiano Institute’s band and the director of Student Affairs, Mario Bolívar, who welcomed the young people, encouraging them to continue in sports and achieve the goals they set for themselves to represent Panama in international competitions.

In these intercollegiate games, approximately 3,000 athletes from the 16 educational regions, along with their coaches, will compete in different disciplines such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, karate, judo, table tennis, chess, swimming, taekwondo, handball, among other sports. The competitions will be held in sports venues such as the ‘Beto’ Remón, Roberto Durán, ‘Cascarita’ Tapia gymnasiums, among others.

The sporting events began on August 12 and end on Saturday, August 17. The qualified teams will compete in the national tournaments, which will take place from August 21 to 25. The winners will represent Panama in the Sports Games of the Central American Isthmus Council for Sport and Recreation (Codicader), which will take place in El Salvador from October 2 to 11.

Competitive sports practice develops discipline, commitment, teamwork, and a sense of belonging in young people, as well as values ​​that they apply academically and in their lives.
