Tacna: Up to three cell phones and chips found in Pocollay men's prison

During an operation by the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE) staff in pavilion B of the Pocollay men’s prison in the Tacna region, three cell phones were found that had allegedly been available to some inmates for illegal acts.

The National Police is investigating how these prohibited items entered the premises, as security personnel are said to be carrying out strict controls on visiting lawyers and family members.

Equipment in cells

The mobile devices were found after an early morning operation. Two Samsung and Xiaomi cell phones with Entel chips were found in cells, while a third Samsung mobile device was hidden in a hallway and also had an Entel chip.

It should be noted that the prison has cell phone signal blockers, which even affect the neighbours in the area, but they are not considered a problem for the prisoners. Cell phone communication equipment continues to be found in several operations.
