Merchants request to reassess a state of emergency due to insecurity in Arequipa

The different representatives of the commercial conglomerates and supply markets of the White City once again request a state of emergency in the province of Arequipa due to the increase in criminal acts that have been registered in recent weeks and which was denied at the meeting convened by the Committee Regional Citizen Security (Coresec) last week.

For Herbert Peñalosa in charge of the commercial centers of the city fenceindicates that the state of emergency, instead of frightening off investments, would generate more confidence in buyers and tourists, I also indicate that the robberies that merchants suffer the most are cell phones and merchandise, but their greatest concern is that there will be gang fights and shootouts in the commercial areas.

More security. On the platform of Andrés Avelino Cáceres after the massive protest carried out by the merchants, the Bustamante y Rivero police station sent 30 police officers to patrol the various market areas. “The increase in police officers on the platform is good, but it is not enough and crime does not wait and priority actions must be taken,” said Jhasmany Cayo, president of the platform’s defense.

It is also requested the opening of the quick aid station used by the police and serenazgo that was closed at the beginning of the pandemic and is currently used as a vaccination center.
