Berta Olmedo Vernaza, deputy director of the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama, referred to the occurrence of the La Niña phenomenon, which will begin between September and October and will strengthen between December and January. This will cause above-normal rainfall.
Olmedo said that we have a perfect condition to have more rain than normal, due to the very high temperatures in the Caribbean, as well as tropical waves and others that could increase rainfall without being linked to the La Niña phenomenon.
He pointed out that the intense rainy season had already been predicted and that a series of recommendations had been made to prepare for this increase in rainfall by taking the necessary precautions.
