Some 500 police units will guarantee security at the Santiago Apóstol employers’ fairs

The National Police in the province of Veraguas will deploy a force of approximately 500 police units to guarantee security in Operation Santiago Apóstol, which begins from August 1 to 4, 2024.

For his part, Deputy Commissioner Fernando Vargas, Head of the Veraguas Police Zone, indicated that the security device will be made up of units of Children and Adolescents, Traffic, Lynx, Cyclists, Tourism, DIP, DIJ, Anti-Drug, Anti-Gang, Rapid Reaction Group, Canine, Regular Group and Administrative Personnel among others, who will be the guarantors of enforcing the provisions issued by the authorities.

He also pointed out that they will maintain Control Points and Observation Points in all areas, streets and avenues adjacent to the festivities, in order to prevent the entry of knives or firearms, with or without permission, into public and crowded places during the days and times contemplated for the development of the patron saint festivities, such as: awnings, sidewalks, discos, public avenues or similar.

Likewise, banking, commercial and residential areas will be reinforced in order to maintain peace and tranquility for citizens.
At the same time, he urged parents to keep an eye on their minor children; no minor should be alone or unaccompanied by an adult in places where alcoholic beverages are sold, on awnings, on sidewalks, or at dances.

Any minor caught with his or her parents, guardian or adult in one of these places will be taken to the Police for Children and Adolescents and the adult will be placed at the disposal of the competent authorities.
