The government is committed to the communities to accelerate the delivery of the various works, one of which is the Northern Hydraulic Ring, which is being built under the management of the National Council for Sustainable Development (Conades).
President Mulino’s wishes were expressed by the Minister of the Presidency, Juan Carlos Orillac, during a tour of four points of the Hydraulic Ring that will bring water to 200 thousand Panamanians.
The San Lorenzo tank (with a storage capacity of 1.8 million gallons of water), the San Lorenzo pumping station, the La Cabima pumping station and the Villa Grecia tank (1.37 million gallons) were inspected there.
The President’s insistence is due to the fact that these sections of the project are behind schedule with respect to the promised delivery date and the signature of the National Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN) is still required to put them into operation.
The Northern Hydraulic Ring is a drinking water storage and conduction system to supply the communities of Alcalde Díaz, San Lorenzo, Villa Grecia, Nueva Esperanza, Villa Cárdenas, Cerro Peñón, Caimitillo, Guarumal, Mocambo, San Pablo and part of Chilibre.
Minister Orillac acknowledged the importance of delivering the remaining sections of the Hydraulic Ring, and stated that steps will be taken to ensure that the Idaan receives them as soon as possible and puts them into operation for the benefit of these communities, which have historically suffered from a poor water supply.
The delivery of the four sections of San Lorenzo, La Cabima and Villa Grecia would complete the nine sections of the original contract for the Hydraulic Ring, leaving the three works that were added to benefit San Pablo, Mocambo, Caimitillo and Guarumal to be delivered.
During his tour, Minister Orillac was accompanied by the Executive Secretary of CONADES, Antonio Tercero González, and directors of the Anillo Hidráulico Consortium.
