Angela Ortega, a nutritionist at the Ministry of Health, said that in the month of August, World Breastfeeding Week is commemorated, as breast milk is an important food for babies, and breast milk is considered the infant’s first vaccine.
Ortega explained that breast milk is a protective factor against childhood obesity. She indicated that the mother can create a milk bank (refrigerated) so that the baby can receive exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life.
She indicated that from August 1 to 7, World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated. Therefore, various activities will be carried out to encourage breastfeeding.
