The Argentine yerba mate is participating in the fair Gulfood Dubai which takes place between February 13 and 17 in that city of the United Arab Emirates and in which the interest of visitors to know the origin of the product stands out.
“In the Middle East they are very interested in the origin of the Argentine yerba matefor the entire production process that begins with the harvest,” said Rubén Álvez, representative of rural workers on the Board of Directors of the National Yerba Mate Institute (INYM).
The participating Misiones herbal establishments underline the growth potential that the product has in the Middle East and summarizes as “very positive” the balance recorded by the presence of Argentine yerba mate at the Gulfood Dubai fair.
In addition to Álvez, María Marta Oria, deputy manager of Promotion and Development of the INYM, accompany the yerba mate establishments that requested support to be present at this food fair; considered the most important in the United Arab Emirates and the gateway to the Middle East.
“The work carried out by importers to position Argentine yerba mate is very important, and they are also here, along with the firms that participate in the fair,” Oria stressed.
Meanwhile, Gustavo Redondo, Commercial Corporate Manager of the Santa Ana Establishment He pointed out that, “to begin with, we were pleasantly surprised by the number of visitors who are attending, from our point of view, it exceeded in number those who visited it in pre-pandemic times”,
Along the same lines, Gerardo Koropeski, from the firm Hreñuk SAwho was also surprised by the call for the fair and the interest in yerba mate.
“We have had many companies visit our stand to see the possibilities of entering different Gulf countries with our brandwhich for us is very good news,” he enthused.
The importance of this fair lies in its proximity to Syria; country that concentrates 80% of shipments and is the main export destination of Argentine yerba mate.
“From what I was able to observe – Álvez pointed out – consumers in this region are very interested in the origin and I had the opportunity to explain how it is harvested and arrives with excellent quality to these markets,” he said.
