Alejo Campos: “Organized crime is behind the smuggling of alcoholic beverages”

Alejo Campos from Crime Stoppers referred to the increase in taxes on alcoholic beverages and said that people are not going to stop consuming alcohol because taxes increase but rather they will look for it cheaper.

Campos said that they recommend a veto of the bill that seeks to increase taxes on alcoholic beverages, although the reason for the Law is good, seeking money for the CSS, will lead to an increase in smuggling.

Campos explained that organized crime is behind the smuggling of alcoholic beverages and that contraband products, when counterfeited, do not pass controls and have components that are harmful to health.
