Queen Camilla promised that he will stop purchasing leather clothing for his wardrobe, The organization PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) reported on Wednesday.

This British animal protection organization noted that it received a letter from Buckingham Palace dated April 15 in that regard.

“In response to your request, I can confirm that “Your Majesty will not purchase new fur clothing,” says the palace letter received by PETA.according to a statement from this organization.

“This is accompanied by the Queen’s warmest wishes,” the text adds. Contacted by AFP, Buckingham Palace had no comment.

In this way, Camila follows in the footsteps of Queen Elizabeth II, the mother of her husband Carlos III, who stopped buying new fur clothes in 2019.

PETA applauds Camila’s gesture “for being a true queen, siding with the 95% of Britons who also refuse to wear fur.”

“It is right and appropriate that the monarchy reflects British values by recognizing that fur has no place in our society,” the organization says.

The king is known for being an advocate for the environment and animal welfare.

However, Charles III and Camila wore leather garments during their coronation, on May 6, 2023, putting on the ceremonial robes of George VI and Elizabeth II, the two previous kings.

Before the coronation, PETA had offered to provide Charles III with fur-free dresses for free.
