This May 15 at 10:00 EDT (9:00 Panama time), in the Simón Bolívar room at the OAS headquarters in Washington, DC, the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold a regular meeting to receive the manual for Electoral Observation Missions.
According to the manual, it seeks to provide guidance to international observers of the electoral process in order to verify compliance with the electoral regulations in force in the host country; analyze the development of the electoral process in the context of the norms adopted by the member states of the organization; and take note of what was observed and report to the Secretary General and the Permanent Council.
In addition to collaborating with government and electoral authorities, and with citizens in general, to ensure the impartiality, transparency and reliability of the electoral processes.
The OAS highlighted that the meeting will be broadcast – with interpretation in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese – live through the Web page, Facebook and Youtube of the OAS.
In addition, the celebration of this ordinary meeting will serve as a space for the commemoration of the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia and Transphobia.
