In a historic day for Panamanian motorsports, the Guatemalan Juan Diego Hernández, aboard his Lamborghini Huracán, decisively conquered the GT Challenge Grand Prix of Panama, with which the Autódromo Panamá was officially inaugurated this Sunday, in the presence of about 10 thousand motor sport fans.

The Guatemalan, who took the lead in his fast car, had a dream weekend, winning the pole for this race, setting a track record and winning the two GT rounds, in addition, the title at the Autódromo Panamá and the GTS category. .

“We feel very happy for this victory on this top-level track and against very good drivers, who put up a tough battle,” said the champion who has already promised to return in July for the next date of the GT of the Americas.

The champion commented that he did not have it easy at all, but together with his team they achieved this victory that he gives to the Panamanian fans, who behaved very well and supported him throughout the weekend.

Number 59, guided by Hernández, led the first and second heat to start the season on the right foot and also the applause of the public who visited this circuit, located in Capira, down Campana.

Second place overall went to Costa Rican Gustavo Ortega in Audio R8 GT3 and third to 2023 champion Carlos Zaid, from Guatemala, in a Mercedes GT3 Evo 2 AMG. The Audi R8 GT3 EVO 2 of Panamanian Solly Betesh also made itself felt on the track,

In the GTS category, the podium went to the Guatemalan Juan Diego Hernández, followed by the Costa Ricans Gustavo Ortega and Eric Bacherer and Carlos Zaid, from Guatemala, third place.

Other winners, in the GTS light A, André Solana and Kevin King, from Costa Rica and the United States, respectively, dominated; followed by Norberto Navarro and Sebastián NG, from Panama and Fernando Seferlis, Panama. In the GTS Light B, Baldasar Vukasovic from Croatia and Diego Narbona, from Spain, won; escorted by David Carballeda and Cristhian Gómez, both from Panama.

In the V8 category, Marco Vento, from Puerto Rico, won; followed by Carlos Hernández, from Guatemala and Zlatko Piskulisch, from Costa Rica. In the V8 Light category, Sebastián Merchán and Zlatko Pis kilich dominated on the podium.

At the moment, the best in the TCR are Max and Axel Schuberet, Carlos Herrera and Luis Ramírez, all from Panama.

This Sunday the cars competed in two heats of 40 minutes each with a mandatory two-minute pit stop.
