The Senate celebrates five decades of diplomacy between Mexico and China

Yesterday, the Senate commemorated five decades of diplomatic relations between Mexico and China with two events: one, organized by the parliamentarian from Morena, José Narro Céspedes, in which the president of the legislative chamber, Olga Sánchez Cordero, endorsed the commitment so that after half century bilateral treatment remains healthy, and promote a new stage of joint work that allows to encourage economic dynamism.

Sánchez Cordero pointed out that the Legislative Branch will comply with its obligations to provide legal certainty to individuals and companies from all nations that wish to invest in the country. The foregoing, the legislator noted, within the framework of a rule of law that guarantees fair and balanced business relations, that result in tangible benefits for the population of our countries and our sister nations.

He stressed that the strength of bilateral ties is palpable, which allows us to continue deepening our various exchanges, and encourage economic dynamism that, just last year, reported figures greater than 100 billion dollars.

The Chinese ambassador to Mexico, Zhu Qingqiao, considered that it is necessary to take full advantage of the role of the Permanent Intergovernmental Commission, in order to improve political confidence, in addition to supporting us to follow a path of development that adapts to our conditions.

In a second event, the Senate presented the book 50 years of Mexico-China diplomatic relations. Past, present and futurea publication coordinated by this legislative body, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Mexico and the Center for China-Mexico Studies of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

Parliamentarian Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong, president of the Belisario Domínguez Institute, pointed out that the coincidences between the two nations allowed them to engage in a fruitful dialogue and establish a strategic relationship that yielded benefits to both peoples.

Enrique Dussel Peters, coordinator of the Center for China-Mexico Studies and organizer of the document presented, highlighted the growing maturation of the bilateral relationship in its extension and depth, as there are more and more institutions seeking to strengthen ties in various areas.
