According to the report of the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs (Dian), during 2021, 32,372 contraband apprehensions in Colombia which were valued at $323,068 million, a value that increased by 55.9% compared to 2020.

The cities that suffered the greatest damage from this scourge were Bogotá, where arrests were made worth $83,463 millions, Cali ($52,529 million), Medellin ($24,510 million), Cartagena ($20,049 million) and Buenaventura ($15,844 million).
the dian also reported that the sector of materials, textiles and clothings are the products that are most smuggled in the country. In 2021, 8,216 apprehensions were reported, which represented an increase of 23.9% compared to the previous year.

Followed by the machinery and electrical material sections, with an increase of 19.9%, Tobacco and substitutes, with 11.7%, plastic materials and their manufactures, with 5.4%, and chemical products, with a variation of 5.2%.
Among the most forceful actions against this crime carried out by the Dian, with the support of the Army, the National Navy and the Attorney General’s Office, during 2021 are:

Barranquilla, Atlantic: 2,000 Colombian National Team T-shirtsworth $120 million.
Maicao, La Guajira: 1,047,270 cigarette packss, Ibiza and Carnival brands, for a value close to $2.45 billion.
Cali Valle del Cauca: 904,379 cigarette packs, 1,147,128 clothing units, 3,669 cell phones and 22,259 mobile equipment parts, 19 yellow machinery units, 68,136 medicine units and 43,194 pairs of footwear. All valued at approximately $137,000 million.
Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca: 64,780 toy store units, with an affectation to the State of about $1,404 million.
