Reports provided by the Office of the Fund for Equity and Quality of Education (FECE) reveal that the country’s official centers keep in their accounts more than B/. 76.3 million unused balboas, the educational region of Central Panama registers a high percentage of money without making use of said items.
The detailed report by the FECE Office reveals that the execution as of July 15 of the current year was B/. 28.9 million, which represents a 49.27% use of the funds programmed for the 2023 term.
Periodically an analysis is carried out to determine if the educational communities are executing their projects in the schools, but the assigned items that are kept in the National Bank.
The official educational centers receive an annual allocation that is divided into three periods and that must be used properly by the directors of each school campus to meet the basic needs of their schools. Every month on the Meduca portal –in the transparency node– all the deposits assigned to each school center are updated and published.
Due to various circumstances, the director of the educational center does not maintain the signature registered in the respective bank, the regional offices are able to provide him with the necessary support, just as the FECE staff provides them with the required training and supports them in carrying out the corresponding procedures, so there is no obstacle for them to make rational use of the funds they receive quarterly.
The FECE is delivered to educational centers and covers the allocation that is made annually by 75% for investment in rehabilitation, infrastructure maintenance, purchase of equipment, acquisition and maintenance of technology for classrooms, school furniture, tools, didactic material, in short, everything that the school needs and 25% is allocated to student welfare, to meet the needs of food, transportation, health, donations, recreational and cultural activities for those students who need it.
Another of the educational regions that they maintain in their accounts without making use of the bank to date are the Ngäbe Buglé region, Panama Oeste, Chiriquí, Coclé, Veraguas, San Miguelito and Bocas del Toro.
