During the closing of the II International Meeting of Venezuelan Specialty Coffee 2023, which took place in the Laguito de Fuerte Tiuna, the president said that “there is still a long way to go, but we are at a high level of work, production and excellence” .
In this regard, the Minister of Agriculture, Wilmar Castro Soteldo, said that they went from one million 573 thousand quintals in 2016, to 3,618,637 in 2022. He said that they are projecting “2023 for 4,073,978 quintals.” He noted that the current coffee production is in surplus for its export. Likewise, he highlighted that, of the total samples this year, 76% come from the states of Mérida, Trujillo and Miranda.

For his part, the ruler Nicolás Maduro assured that in Venezuela there is “zero importation of coffee” and that there is 100% nationally produced coffee in the country. “Now to export coffee to the world and grow,” said the ruler.
During the award ceremony for the participating coffee growers, Maduro also announced the inauguration of the laboratory of the Foundation for the Excellence of Venezuelan Coffee (FECVE), in which the coffee varieties will be evaluated in order to guarantee quality for local consumption and from exportation.
