Kidney patients in Santa Cruz gave their mobilizations a break after signing an agreement with representatives of the Ministry of Health on Monday afternoon, July 10. The agreement states that the government will pay the debts to private centers within the hemodialysis service agreement, in addition to starting kidney transplants in the department of Santa Cruz.

According to René Hernández, president of the Association of kidney patients Vida y Esperanza, the Government promised to pay off the debt, which borders on Bs 24 million, until the end of this month. For this, a commission will arrive from La Paz that will follow up.

Despite the favorable result of the meeting, he regretted that, only when two private centers stopped providing the hemodialysis service, did the Government act. Likewise, he informed that, of their own free will, these centers (Martín Dockweiler and CHMA) decided not to renew agreement.

“The owners did not sign the agreement because financially it does not give them to follow the program, then by their own decision they will no longer continue,” Hernández explained. This means that now there are only 8 private centers left within the agreement.

The Minister of Health and Sports, María Renée Castro, reported that, about 100 kidney patients who received hemodialysis care in these two centers They have already been relocated to other health centers.

The agreement signed between the patients and the Government also establishes that, within a period of no more than two months, start performing kidney transplants in agreement with two health centers in the department.
