Molto: “Most of the people who have died from influenza have been from type A”

Angel Valdes | July 5, 2023

Dr. Alfredo Moltó, advisor to the Superior Office of the Ministry of Health (MINSA) spoke about the cases of influenza that are occurring in the country and explained the types of viruses that cause respiratory symptoms that affect both children and adults.

«For influenza we already have the way to detect if it is, and also what type of influenza, if it is type A or B, of the 24 deaths so far, the majority have died from type A influenza, however we have had between 4 or 5 for type B influenza, “explained Moltó.

I also urge the population to get vaccinated at health facilities «It is important to get vaccinated because there are groups that are at greater risk, either by age or by disease conditions, those under 5 years of age, those over 60 years of age, anyone who has a chronic disease does not matter the age, pregnant women are people who must be vaccinated for which we have vaccines available in all health centers and facilities of the Social Security Fund.
