President Nicolás Maduro received the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, at the Miraflores Palace on Thursday night, June 8, after the international official had a busy work schedule that included meetings with Vice President delcy rodriguezthe president of the TSJ, Gladya Gutiérrez, and the prosecutor of the extinct constituent assembly, Tarek William Saab.
Khan was received along with his delegation, made up of his special assistants, Jonathan Agar and Sarah Hishan, and by the international cooperation adviser, Miia Aro-Sánchez, to talk with Maduro; the first lady, Cilia Flores, the prosecutor Tarek William Saab and the executive secretary of the National Human Rights Council, Larry Devoe.
The objective of the meeting is to follow up on the memorandum of understanding signed two years ago “based on the principle of positive complementarity”, according to the transmission of VTV.
Maduro, after the meeting, expressed in his social networks that together with the ICC prosecutor, the progress made after the memorandum of understanding signed between the country and that international body was reviewed. He also stressed that the working mechanisms between the Court and Venezuela will continue to be expanded.

The NGO Provea criticized in its social networks that the Venezuelan State has not reported the visit of the ICC prosecutor, Karim Khan, to Venezuela when Colombia —a country with which the administration of Nicolás Maduro now has a close relationship since Gustavo Petro came to power— did give it to know.
In its considerations, Provea requested respect for the memorandum of understanding and stressed the need for “genuine investigations and not pretense of justice” to be carried out in the country.
