Three men were arrested as suspects in the murder of coachman Antonio Silvino Díaz Yera, last week in Santa Claraas the victim’s niece reported on Tuesday, Lauren Lopezresident in Camajuaní and who had denounced the crime initially.

According to the official Fuerza del Pueblo profile, those responsible are Mario Pedro González Rodríguez, Jesús Antonio Díaz Chirino and Zaddiel García Suárez, aged 32, 45 and 27 respectively. All of them have allegedly recognizedthe crime.

The message indicates that in the search of one of the authors, objects related to the case were obtained, as well as parts and pieces of the horse cart owned by the victim, alleged motives for the crime.

“These savages are the murderers of my uncle Tony,” said Laurien López on her Facebook wall, accompanying her message with a photo with three individuals. She herself thanked the National Revolutionary Police “for their hard work,” although she lamented that Cuban laws are not “severe enough in these cases.”

Hundreds of people, forming a long procession on foot and in horse-drawn carriages, said goodbye to Díaz Yera last Saturday

After saying that his family “is not going to stop until his sentence is the death penalty, and that just as they ended my uncle’s life and dreams, the courts will end theirs,” López warned that “if the sentence is not the death penalty, there will be problems”.

Hundreds of people, forming a long procession on foot and in horse-drawn carriages, said goodbye to Díaz Yera last Saturday, as can be seen in videos spread on social networks.

At 57 years old, the man worked as a cart driver and died on May 22 after being assaulted and stabbed outside the Los Caneyes hotel in Santa Clara.

“He had gone out for a trip and never came back,” he told 14ymedio Lauren Lopez. Díaz’s still-living body was found in the morning by a resident of the Los Caneyes area, a hotel located on the outskirts of the city and very close to the mausoleum of Che Guevara. Although touristy, it is a remote area in the vicinity of which neighborhoods of arrive and put where crime is prevalent.

Díaz was transferred to the Arnaldo Milián clinical-surgical provincial hospital, but died while they were trying to save him with surgery.

Laurien López, who had lamented the murder of her uncle on Facebook last Tuesday, was very harsh in her claims to the Government: “Stop those speeches about the country advancing. It does advance, but in delinquency and crimes.”
