Mother of 9J 11 prisoners: “My children are innocent and there is no one to get me out of there”

MIAMI, United States. — Jorge and Nadir Martin Perdomotwo of the anti-government protesters of July 11, 2021 (July 11) in San José de las Lajas, Mayabeque province, remain in prison almost two years after their arrest.

The brothers were sentenced to eight and six years in prison, respectively, for the crimes of contempt and public disorder.

His mother, Marta Perdomo Benitezcontinues to ensure that his children are innocent and that the island’s regime incriminated them in alleged violent acts to justify the raid against the protesters.

“Since they did nothing wrong, they had to find a way for there to be something that was not peaceful,” the woman told CubaNet.

Perdomo assures that after being arrested, her children were tortured by the political police, mainly Nadir.

According to the youngsters’ mother, the family situation since then has been very difficult. The detention caused not only suffering and despair, but also isolation.

“We were here very alone. Nobody came here to this house. He abandoned us all. It was very sad. Fear covers all Cubans when there is a problem like this”.

Marta Perdomo Benítez added that during the months that followed the 9/11 protests, they received threats and warnings from State Security.

“They put letters under our doors telling us to control my husband, that we should not report so much, that it was worse for the boys,” said the woman, who recalled that the trial was “a play.”
