The government of São Paulo announced that it will submit a proposal to give a 20% salary increase to all public security and health careers. 276 thousand professionals in the security area and 69 thousand in the public health network should benefit. For civil servants in other areas, which total 195 thousand employees, the readjustment will be 10%.
According to Governor João Doria, the bill with the increase in civil servants’ salaries will be sent to the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo (Alesp): “we are optimistic, the expectation is that the Assembly will debate and approve the proposal”. The forecast is that the new salaries will be paid from March.
The deputy governor, Rodrigo Garcia, informed that the readjustment will cost approximately R$ 5.6 billion per year to the state coffers, which already spends R$ 100 billion on payroll.
With the increase, the starting salary of a second-class soldier in the Military Police will go from R$2,500 to R$3,000, reaching R$5,800 with benefits.
The starting salary of nursing technicians, with 30 hours per week, will increase from R$ 1 thousand to R$ 1.2 thousand, reaching R$ 2.1 thousand with benefits. For doctors with a workload of 20 hours per week, the initial value goes from R$ 5.5 thousand to R$ 6.7 thousand, reaching R$ 8.9 thousand with benefits.
