The Ombudsman will intervene in the case of former Petaquilla Gold workers who demand payment of back wages

A total of 606 former employees of the companies Petaquilla Gold and Panamá Desarrollo e Infraestructuras (PDI), which stopped operating in Panama in 2014; They demand payment of back wages, before this the Ombudsman, Eduardo Leblanc González met with their former collaborators to follow up on the process of payments that are still owed to them.

The Ombudsman said that based on the open complaint that rests in the entity, they will work together so that they pay their labor benefits, comply with social security, their lost wages and that both the companies and the Ministry of Commerce and Industries respond to them and so they know if this is actually going to proceed or not.

Given the current situation, the Ombudsman’s Office, for the sake of transparency and the right to information of those affected, will request the current status of the current status of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Labor, the Banco Nacional todo and the Caja del Seguro Social (CSS). of the case to inform those affected.
