Moncada calls for unity in the fight for the Essequibo

Samuel Moncada, Permanent Representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations Organization, presented this Friday a conference at the Conversatory “El Esequibo, historical vision” at the Bolívar Theater in Caracas.

During the forum, Moncada indicated that the activity served to “educate in greater detail and with documents the arguments that Venezuela has to demonstrate before the international Court of Justice the nullity of the decision taken by the Court of Paris of 1899″

In statements broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, he emphasized that Venezuela’s only position before the International Court of Justice is to demonstrate the nullity of the Award of Paris.

He recalled that, for many years, the actions taken around the Essequibo were unknown, until in 1999 when international actions began to be investigated and there was sufficient evidence to demonstrate the dispossession of the territory, after the Paris Award.

In this regard, he stated that Venezuela will have the opportunity until April of last year to take different actions to defend the territory.

The forum will also serve to inform the population before the Popular Consultation called by the President takes place.

“Venezuela has to decide whether or not to attend the case. Whatever the designs, we need historical, legal actions, promotion of the Venezuelan vision in the world, the idea is that we make decisions together. We are at the stage of forging a decision where we all participate, ”she pointed out.

“The ICJ is one of the elements that Venezuela has to claim and defend the territory of Guayana Esequiba, but it is not the only one,” he added.
