The College of Journalists of Peru (CPP) issued a statement expressing its concern about the current political crisis that “keeps the institutional course of our country adrift.” Due to this, the entity urges the current Government “to designate as soon as possible a new ministerial cabinet that reconciles Peruvians and facilitates governability”.
In the second point of the statement, the union entity maintains that in order to achieve the objective of governance “It is imperative that the government build trust and stability.” The CPP also points out to the resigning prime minister and the head of the Justice portfolio as political spokesmen who seek to hold the media responsible for the Government’s own mistakes.

The letter also seeks to remind the political power that journalism fulfills its function of providing information “so that citizens assert their rights in society.” For this reason, the professional order asks both the Government of Pedro Castillo and its spokesmen “keep the necessary serenity and sanity”.
