A TV Brazil premieres today (27) a special program to remember one of the darkest periods in Brazilian history. The Past Present – Dictatorship and Democracy Week special will begin with the screening of the feature The day that lasted 21 years. The documentary addresses the participation of the US government in the preparation of the 1964 coup d’état in Brazil.
Before the film, at 10 pm, youtuber Felipe Neto and historian Ynaê Lopes dos Santos, with the mediation of journalist Cristina Serra, will discuss the theme “memory, truth and versions”.
Until Sunday, will be displayed other six films linked to the same theme. The works were curated by the filmmaker and executive content manager at TV BrazilMaria Augusta Ramos, and the advisor to the Presidency of the EBC and future Director of Content and Programming at TV BrazilAntonia Pellegrino.
Uncensored
Also today (27) the program Uncensored will remember the Years of Lead with lawyer and activist Luiz Eduardo Greenhalgh. Former federal deputy, Greenhalgh acted in the defense of political prisoners during the dictatorship.
The program, presented by Marina Machado, starts at 9 pm, and will count on the participation of the journalist from EBC Joana Côrtes and political reporter Carla Jimenez.
During the program, videos will also be shown with the testimony of former Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Sepúlveda Pertence and former political prisoners Flávio Tavares, Ivan Seixas and Lúcia Leão, recalling their passages through the prisons of the dictatorship.
