The Cuban guy Louis Robert Jr.member of the Chicago White Sox in the Major League Baseball (MLB)), confirmed his satisfaction at having participated with the island’s national team in the recently concluded V World Baseball Classic (WBC).
The outstanding center fielder described his foray with the Cuban team in the tournament as “a beautiful experience”, in statements to the Chicago Sun Time which have been reviewed by various media outlets.

“It’s everything I could imagine… It was quite special to represent my country,” said the player, who debuted in these contests with an offensive average of .259, in addition to hitting a double and driving in four runs in six games.
The man born in the province of Ciego de Ávila, and who represented that territory in several editions of the National Series, also had words of praise for the high level of the contest, which brought together 20 national teams for the first time.
In addition, he compared the tension of the games experienced in the event with the games of an MLB postseason.
“It just felt different because, in the tournament, you are representing your country and you know that your whole country is watching and supporting you,” he told the Chicago outlet.
“It was the first time we had this event in six years. It’s something different, and so are the feelings. The weight you have on your shoulders is heavier because it is about your country,” she added.
Robert Jr. was one of the players from the main professional baseball circuit in the world who accepted the unprecedented call of the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB) to represent the island in the strong tournament.
Also joining the team was fellow White Sox player Yoan Moncada from Cienfuegos, who was selected to the World Classic All-Star team thanks to his .435 average with one home run and five RBIs, as well as excellent defense at third base. .
At the conclusion of the contest, both players returned to White Sox training camp to prepare for the 2023 MLB season.
