Video games: Nintendo will not compete with Microsoft or Sony in the purchase of developers

it will not join the ‘race’ to buy video game studios or development companies, as Microsoft and Sony have recently done. At least not yet.

In a recent press conference, the president of the Japanese firm, Shuntaro Furukawa, explained why they will not follow this strategy, which in the case of Microsoft involved the purchase of the giant Activision-Blizzard for almost US$70,000 million, while on the other hand of Sony meant the acquisition of Bungie, for US$3,600 million.

As reported by Bloomberg, Furukawa considers it more important to invest in his developers and studios that have what he called “Nintendo DNA.”

“Our brand was built on products made with dedication by our employees, and having a large number of people who do not have the Nintendo DNA in our group would not be an advantage for the company,” said the executive of the creator of hits as Mario Bros or The Legend of Zelda.

Despite such assertions, Furukawa stressed that they will only choose to acquire a developer “if necessary.”
